![]() Frank J. Blozusky On a day like today, about 30 years ago, at the tender age of three, Frank J. Blozusky was given his first set of drums. And while most kids (at that age) would be looking forward to their afternoon nap- Frank was picking up those seemingly oversized sticks and doing what he does best....playing drums. It didn't take long before he was performing live in front of audiences. The first of which was with "The Kids" in 1977 at Stella's Bar in his hometown of Maizeville, PA. Other musical excursions soon followed including: a power trio he formed in grade school called "The Nighthawks", and a polka band from Girardville called "Whitey's Polka Band". This later became "Steppin' Back" the year he graduated high school in 1987. This is the band he "grew up" with. The leader of the band, Whitey, taught him many different time signatures and that is why he can play many, MANY different kinds of music by ear. Later he joined the group "Locomotion" from the Nuremburg area. In the early nineties, while attending dental school in Philadelphia, Frank formed a rock band called the "Painkillers". This band played rock music for the masses until its demise shortly after his graduation from college.. In 1994, he and the bass player from the "Painkillers" formed the classic rock band "Neon Blonde". The band attracted a regional audience and was very popular throughout Northeastern and Central PA. "Neon Blonde" dissolved in October 2000 but Frank managed to stay busy with music, on a part time basis, while opening up his own dental practice in Frackville, PA. His studio work includes writing the drum tracks for a progressive rock band from the Selinsgrove area called "The Blue Project". He has also been seen, from time to time, filling the drum seat for countless other bands. He has lent his expertise to the likes of: The Shoreliners, The Skyliners, Tidal Wave (Jersey Shore Band), City Lights, The Mudflaps, Toolshed Jack, PA Goodtimes, Jamaican Jazz Ensemble, 7 Foot Mullet, and Shotgun Wedding.... to name a few. Frank's experiences have afforded him priceless opportunities to hone his talents and his exposure to the many different genres of music has made him a well-informed musician. He offers this as a bit of advice to the success of any aspiring drummers: "Don't forget to FLOSS!!" |
