Dennis "Schotty" Schott
Schotty was no doubt born to be a musician. His family was into the arts and the talent ran down the bloodlines.
He started taking guitar lessons when he was 11 or 12 years old. And started in his first band when he was only 15.
After convincing his parents that Harry Shadle would be his guardian while they were playing, he and his mentor
started the band "Storm" in 1971. They played Elvis tunes, oldies, top 40 and the elusive CCR.
Schotty owes Harry for getting him into the music business and he thanks him greatly.
After changing the keyboard player, the band became "Autumn" in 1972.
In 1974, his band "Auburn" attacked
the East coast club curcuit. They also played every Sunday night at the Hamburg Fieldhouse
where hundreds if not thousands of their fans came to rock with them!
Then disco flooded the airwaves, and "Pinch" was born. Playing top 40 and disco.
1975 brought on "Patchwork" which after adding a keyboard to the mix in 1976--
"TUCKER YOUNG"
was born!
In 1981, he and his band members
Tom Karpovich, Bob Wapinsky, George Hartz, and Tony Gregis recorded
"Sure Know How to Live".
They had a great jam until 1983 when he took a break.
Then, in 1991-92, he joined up with Frank Blozusky and started playing in
"Steppin' Back",
who still play every now and again til today. Then in 2004, he came aboard "Another Side" and is having a great time rockin'!
Some of his influeneces are
The Beatles, Mark Farner(Grand Funk Railroad), Jimmy Hendrix and then later on--
Mick Box (Uriah Heep),Yes, Genesis, Crosby-Stills & Nash and RITCHIE BLACKMORE (Deep Purple).
He realized that slowing down the rpm's on the Deep Purple albums, he could really take apart the incredible leads,
learn them, and develop his own way of incredible playing!!
Karp from Tucker Young has really touched him with his writing talent!
He adds this about music--
"There is a rush that comes from playing that cannot be duplicated. I've tried. It's addicting."
